It should be noted that the system of epidemiology surveillance set up in France since 1990 must be regarded as extremely effective since it manages to detect 1 sick Cow out of 1 million individual.
It rests on a network of liberal medical veterinary surgeons who, on the ground, screen all the animals presenting of the nervous signs. It also rests on the veterinary surgeons inspectors of the slaughterhouses which examine with a detailed attention the animals cut down for nervous disorders or presenting such disorders to their input at the slaughterhouse.
( 7 cases in 2008)
(1
of which are Test+ at
slaughtering more 24 months old
cattle)
(6 of which from
European Program on dead animals)

The nervous disorders at the
bovines are frequent and I still intend our professor of Contagious
diseases to recall us:"
all is rage and nothing is rage! "
As regards BSE the diagnosis of certainty can be made only after
the death of the the animal...
with the histological examination of brain, Western-blot test
....
This is why one will have initially to consider that the nervous disorders observed are not BSE ; if our art and our perspicacity do not enable us to carry a diagnosis one will have TO CONVINCE the stock breeder who it is necessary to be able to observe the sick animal during a sufficient time... " nothing is not used for to run... "
The intervention on the spot of the Veterinary surgeon "Coordinator" can help to obtain from the stock breeder (always in a hurry to have a diagnosis), time necessary to the decision-making.

1980 The ENGLISH (for dark economic reasons) modify the procedures of manufacture of M.B.F.(Meat and Bone Flours)
Transmission |
The agent responsible for disease (PRION? -- VIRINO? -- VIRUS?) was present in certain CORPSES which were used to manufacture M.B.F.(Meat and Bone Flours). As long as the industrial processing of the flours by heat were sufficient, the transmission of the disease was not possible via the feeding.
The scientists do not know yet with precision if the agent responsible for the disease were of origin Bovine (not diagnosed pre-existent disease very rare bus) or Ovine (Disease of Trembling) . In fact the sheep presents a disease similar to the BSE of which the agent, concentrated in the M.B.F. could adapt to the bovines.
The disease developing only very slowly (several years!) it was already too late when the first cases of BSE were detected by the British. Only the stop of the distribution of M.B.F to the bovines could stop the progression of the disease ... what was made!!
The duration of incubation described above will involve despite everything the declaration of case of BSE during several year after the stop of the distribution of the accused flours.
IN the CURRENT STATE OF OUR KNOWLEDGE the EPIDEMIC MUST STOP IN A FEW YEARS (the English figures show a regular decrease of the number of cases).
